Young Leaders Award

Pupils are able to participate in the Archbishop of York’s Young Leaders Awards which are a unique active citizenship programme which empower young people to make a difference in their local community and help students to develop key leadership skills.

The Post 16 Award focuses specifically on developing students’ leadership and character skills in preparation for life after school. It is modelled on the concept of Running a Race and has 6 key modules, designed to be run over 2 years, with approximately 70 hours of guided learning. Students explore how they can ‘be the change they want to see’ in their communities and practically make a difference through social action and volunteering. Each Module sees students carry out an apprentice style challenge allowing them to put their leadership skills into action and serve their community.
